Why Ayutthaya belongs on your list

For more than 400 years, Ayutthaya ran the show as capital of the Kingdom of Siam. What's left now is a UNESCO World Heritage Site: leaning prangs, weathered Buddha statues, temple ruins that were already old when most of Europe's cathedrals were new.
